DOT number lookup by company name

Don't have the number? Type the company's name. You'll get a list of matching carriers with their city, fleet size and USDOT number; pick the right one to open its full record.

Tips for a name search

  • Use the legal name or the "doing business as" name; both are searched.
  • Common names return many carriers. Add a distinctive word, then use the city and fleet size in the list to pick the right one.
  • Initials work: "jb hunt" finds J B Hunt Transport.
  • If the company is a broker or a private fleet, it still has a USDOT number and shows up here.

Where else the number is

On the truck itself: the USDOT number is required on both doors of every commercial vehicle in interstate commerce, usually with the company name. On a bill of lading, a quote or an insurance certificate from the company. And on FMCSA's own search, linked from every record here.
